José Guadalupe Posada Aguilar
José Guadalupe Posada Aguilar was a Mexican lithographer who used relief printing to produce popular illustrations. His artistic work is considered one of the most influential in Mexican culture. Numerous Latin American artists and cartoonists look up to it because of its satirical acuteness and social engagement in a time when Mexico was still finding its identity as a nation. His most iconic work was what is now known as the catrinas and catrines; it became part of the tradition of Day of the Dead in the late years of the last century.
